About David Wax Museum
David Wax Museum fuses traditional Mexican folk with indie rock and American roots to create a Mexo-Americana aesthetic. Combining Latin rhythms, infectious melodies, and call-and-response hollering, DWM was hailed by TIME for its “virtuosic musical skill and virtuous harmonies” and has built a reputation among concertgoers all over the U.S, Canada, Europe and China for “kicking up a cloud of excitement with their high-energy border-crossing sensibility” (The New Yorker). David Wax Museum has reached a level of cross-cultural integration and musical fluency that allows them to speak electrifying and heartfelt poetry with a tongue that is wholly their own.

SUPER KEYNOTE: Gary Vaynerchuk, CEO / Co-founder, VaynerMedia MARKETING IN THE YEAR WE LIVE IN
DIG 2015 Kickoff Keynote by Gary Vaynerchuk: entrepreneur, investor, author, public speaker, and internet personality.

From Gary:

I have been a businessman for as long as anyone close to me can remember. You can be fancy and call it being an "entrepreneur," but at the end of the day, I do business. While most eight year olds were learning how to properly squeeze a lemon, I was managing seven lemonade stands across my neighborhood in Edison, NJ. When I turned twelve, I set my sights on my local mall, where I became something of a legend selling baseball cards on weekends. In high school I joined the family business, a liquor store called Shoppers Discount Liquors that my dad started. It wasn’t long before I became obsessed with collecting wine.

My core thesis has always revolved around one question: Are you marketing like the year you actually live in? That’s it. It’s not about where things are going to be in 5 years, and it’s definitely not about how we’ve always done it. Do what works. Right now.

In 1997 I was selling wine with an email list while most stores were still faxing their customers. Building on that, I quickly came to recognize the importance of e-commerce, and launched WineLibrary.com, one of the very first wine sales sites. As soon as Google Adwords came out, I was the first (and for a long time the only) person to advertise against people searching for “wine.” All of this helped me to grow the store from a $3 million business to a $60 million business, and it was just the beginning.

Within a year of YouTube popping up, I knew it would be an incredibly powerful platform. Armed with a Flipcam and a NY Jets bucket, I started Wine Library TV in 2006 to share my knowledge and passion for wine with a community that desperately needed a fresh voice. It wasn’t long before 100,000 people were watching my videos every day (shout-out to my Vayniacs – love you guys).

In the spring of 2009, my brother AJ and I launched VaynerMedia, a strategic creative agency focusing on social and digital. VaynerMedia has helped Fortune 500 companies likeGEPepsiCo, and Mt Dew execute against their KPI’s, and build their digital brands through micro content and other storytelling techniques. The idea took hold, and what started as a 6-person project 5 years ago has swelled to a 400-strong team spread across the country.

After years of angel investing in companies like Twitter, Tumblr, Uber and BirchBox, I justlaunched VaynerRSE, a $25 million seed fund that will help invest in and launch the next generation of world-changing technology companies.

When I’m not spending time with my family, who mean everything in the world to me, Ispeak and share my experiences in business with people around the world. I have also found a passion for storytelling, so definitely check out my latest book, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook. I’m so excited you have taken a few minutes out of your day to drop by. Don’t forget to say hey.

PS: I love to hustle!

Join us to talk about how everyone's content can be turned into sustainable revenue. We will examine how Print On Demand technologies not only deliver a critical component to the zero-inventory revenue model, but give a new voice to individuals around the world.

LATE NIGHT AT THE ROYAL AMERICAN: NEW MADRID, JOHNNY DELAWARE & THE NEW ARTISANALS
Late Night at The Royal American is a separately ticketed music series for the rowdy and the brave. For more information and tickets, visit: http://theroyalamerican.com/schedule/

About New Madrid
From the southern wilds of Athens, GA comes young four-piece, New Madrid. Their music is a dynamic mixture of underwater-psych-rock that engages the listener in fully textured aural landscapes, both on record and live. Their acclaimed 2012 independent debut, Yardboat - engineered by David Barbe (Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers) at Chase Park Transduction- displayed the band's inherent talents and introduces a distinctive sound budding with sonic energy. In their ever-thriving music- mecca hometown, Yardboat garnered "Album of the Year," and the band's formula of constant touring and creative restlessness earned them "Artist of the Year" at the Flagpole Music Awards. In the summer of 2013, New Madrid signed to local start-up Normaltown Records, and entered the studio to record what would become Sunswimmer. Their second full-length finds New Madrid further exploring depths of psychedelia and textured noise.

The new record presents a New Madrid audibly settled into itself. Focused into a collection of collaborative songs, the band delves into a more experimental soundscape. Recorded solely on analog tape during a cool, wet July – once again under the direction of David Barbe - Sunswimmer telegraphs a newly confident self-knowledge, from the assertive opening riff of the churning “Manners” to the infectious driving beat behind “Forest Gum.” The tracks here are more concentrated than Yardboat’s offerings, but fans of New Madrid’s expansive tendencies will be sated by the record’s final 25 minutes, which are characterized by two linear compositions (“Homesick” and “And She Smiles”). The album's body of music was conceived as a singular piece and is best consumed that way.

In a digital age, when song snippets skip cross-country on the backs of broadband, Sunswimmer is a testament that making music for shared space still remains. With their sophomore album, New Madrid continues to redefine...

BREAKING UP WITH CONFORMITY
Growing up, the notion of being an outlier is typically frightening. It’s synonymous with words like ostracize, blacklist, snub, and rejection. But for entrepreneurs who truly wish to innovate, embracing those unique character defining traits not only makes us more confident, but also more successful. This is common sense when discussing products and services; the USP is a key component of every savvy business plan. But it’s equally important for personal development. Within the vast number of people in our global industries trying to innovate and creating amazing things, sometimes we forget to foster our own personal traits – or, unfortunately, we choose not to. But in doing so, we also fail to show clients and customers that behind the amazing things we make are amazing human beings.

BRAND GARAGE: How to Champion New Technology Within Your Company & Sell Up the Chain
About four years ago, Cheryl Cheng, an operating partner at Blue Run Ventures and co-founder at BrandGarage, started seeing the Fortune 500 come to Silicon Valley to do their technology shopping. Today, the Bay Area is home to corporate labs, accelerators, and venture arms that actively engage with the startup community. Many brands are seeking relationships with technology innovators that extend beyond the one-day showcase. As a corporate executive who is looking to champion new technology from within your company, how do you sell new technology up the chain and minimize risk? Labs and accelerator programs draw substantial resources and have seen mixed results in the corporate innovation community.

CONSISTENT DIGITAL EXPERIENCES FOR TODAY'S CONSUMERS
While organizations are embracing the opportunity to interact with their customers across digital touch-points, marketplace trends are showing they're struggling to manage and support their fast growing number of applications and the overall experience is fragmented. Maintaining a large number of digital touch-points increases the likelihood for customers to be presented with a variety of experiences that are not entirely cohesive or consistent. Organizations need to reorient their utilization of each touch-point as a single, stand-alone experience, and consider how each one contributes to the holistic picture of the experience they're creating for their customers.

In this session, we will discuss what strategies, technologies and approaches to consider in order to create a consistent and compelling digital experience.

Key Takeaways:

-How to innovate with a consistent approach
-Bridging internal silos within an organization (and how this can impact innovation)
-What digital strategies work best to facilitate this kind of consistency across touch-points
-How to maximize the work done across different touch-points
-How to leverage cloud-based solutions to speed up the internal innovation and public deployment cycles
Themes: digital strategy, e-commerce, multi-channel marketing, technology, design

About Gold Light
Gold Light is an American rock and roll band formed in 2013 around the songs of musician and filmmaker Joe Chang.

"This album makes you forget about all the crap going on this cold, cold world by making alive again the elements of what makes the classics classic—the purity and innocence of what love could and should be, the sweet lyrics and the quivering harmonies.. Even Elvis and Robert Smith come to mind when hearing Chang’s handsome voice..

Chang believes—no, he knows that—there is still beauty in this world to make sense of, there are still mysteries and there is still love—all kinds of it." ~ Hannah Cook (The Blue Indian)

SHAKING HANDS WITH THE PORCUPINE
We’ve learned a lot in our 8 years from unfunded startup to established creative firm and we want to share in the hopes we can help and inspire others like us, regardless of their field or focus. Without the benefit of any formal business education, we’ve made our decisions (good and bad) based on guts, intuition and what we think is most likely a very different ethos than they’re teaching in school. Join in the adventure as a couple of guys who just love what they do give their best advice, based on some brutal and humorous experience, on how to do what you love and survive while you’re at it. Don’t needlessly die of dysentery in the entrepreneurial wilderness – let’s explore the uncharted path of doing your own thing together.

FUTURES: Building the Next Human Experience
The goal of this workshop is to demonstrate how futures studies (also known as foresight) can help designers and strategists: (i) imagine a functional forward view of future worlds, (ii) create services/products in the contexts of those worlds (iii) understand systemic implications based on the relationship between the service/product and the future world. During this workshop we introduce some of the basic concepts of future studies and drawing from the decades of research in this field, teach and practice specific futures methods. These methods will then combined with more traditional design tools (e.g. user research, journey mapping, rapid prototyping etc.) to demonstrate how futures can empower designers and strategists to deal with change.

HOW TO BUILD A FORT
I believe that the lessons you learned and applied as a 10-year old with the simple task of “building a fort” can be applied to launching the company you always wanted to. By orienting your mental framework as a 10-year old and focusing on the leap and those first critical steps, I posit that you will place yourself in a better position. I will break down my personal fort-building experiences and use them as an analogy related to my journey of building MapQuest as well as The Startup Factory

Building the Fort outlines four basic elements that are common to both fort-building and startups:

  1. Socializing Your Idea

  2. Identifying and Marshaling the People You Trust

  3. Gathering the Minimal Resources Closest To You

  4. Acting on the Smallest and Simplest of the Idea.

IF CULTURE EATS STRATEGY FOR LUNCH, ARE YOU CREATING THE RIGHT CULTURE?
The famous business author Peter Drucker said that “Culture Eats Strategy for Lunch” but unfortunately many companies either are creating a bad culture or are spending all their time trying to govern with only strategy and policy. Either way they are left crippled in the battle for company growth and profits. In this session we will look at 7 reasons culture trumps strategy and how you can grow the right culture in your organization. We will also look at start up culture creation and what elements have to transition with growth and maturity. You will leave the session with a challenge and a set of example activities to take back and build on.

Catering provided by Indaco and Básico; cocktails and additional catering provided by The Cocktail Club; brews provided by Twisted Cypress Brewing Company; wine provided by Mira Winery.

About Langhorne Slim

Something of a one-man mixture of the Cramps, Beck’s early indie records (circa One Foot in the Grave), and the soundtrack to O Brother Where Art Thou, singer and guitarist Langhorne Slim offers a sardonic, modern take on traditional folk, country and blues.

Langhorne Slim has been celebrated by numerous press outlets. Rolling Stone praised 2012 album “The Way We Move” as “damn near perfect,” while The Guardian proclaimed the band as “one of the greatest live acts.” Additionally, Entertainment Weekly called Langhorne Slim “your next obsession,” and The New Yorker described him as having “Leadbelly’s gift for storytelling and Dylan’s ability to captivate crowds.”

Langhorne Slim has performed at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Newport Folk Festival and has made appearances on Letterman, Conan, and NPR’s World Cafe. May 1, 2015, Langhorne Slim & the Law will headline DIG SOUTH.

About Lectra Lust
Lectra Lust describes their sound as "cerebral synth pop."The quartet offers fans and listeners a new sensation, stimulated by a sleek layer of synth driven new wave overtones and warm accented vintage guitar textures, which are all commanded by the percussive rhythmic nu disco breakbeats and highlighted by driving bass lines.

The members of Lectra Lust started making electro pop music in late December of 2012 after being introduced to one another at a tacky Christmas sweater party. Yes, that is a true story. The band is led by outlandish frontman, Joe Davies, who hails from the birth place of rock and roll, Memphis TN. Mike Meehan, is the bassist, sound engineer, guitar tech, and roadie....all in one. He grew up on Sullivan's Island. Jamie Teske grew up West of the Ashley, plays a mean guitar, and loves long walks on the beach. Brooks Wharton, a native of Sumter, is the beatmaster. Mike, Jamie, and Brooks had played in a couple of bands together for a couple of years before they met Joe. Joe's previous Electronic Dance Music (AKA Digital Joe) experience helped shape and guide Lectra Lust's current sound today.

Lectra Lust is one of Charleston newest and upcoming bands. They have participated in The Royal American "Eclectic Evenings", Tivoli Art Studio's "Final Fridays", King Dusko on King St., Magic Whisper Shablam Throwdown house party and YogaPop, which was a celebration of Charleston's yoga community. Lectra Lust is currently excited and humbled to be invited to play a benefit for MUSC Brain And Spinal Tumor Program for the Brain Tumor Action Month this May. Also, you never know when Lectra Lust may be playing a house party near you soon.

LIVE AT THE CHARLESTON MUSIC HALL: STOP LIGHT OBSERVATIONS & ELISE TESTONE
Chucktown Music Group (CtMG) founder and Blowfish Mark Bryan will host Live at the Charleston Music Hall, featuring Stop Light Observations and Elise Testone.

About Stop Light Observations
Charleston, South Carolina home-grown artist Stop Light Observations, also known as SLO started playing together at the young age of 13 when songwriter, and pianist Cubby asked guitarist Louis Duffie the iconic teenager boy question.... "wanna start a band?" Through the young years of focusing on writing great solid songs, the young duo picked up childhood friend Luke Withers, and Will Blackburn, to play dem' drums and sing dem' songs! Over time the adding of Coleman Sawyer on bass and fiddle, and Wyatt Garrey on lead guitar, formulated the power-dynamic six piece Rock Group know as Stop Light Observations.

Stop Light Observations plays a unique style described as Southern-Retro-Electro-Rock with influences of ; Classic Rock N' Roll, Indie, Motown, Hip-hop and Folk, Revival, Psychedelic, Garage, and Arena Rock. They claim their drive is the fun and spirit of performing and creating great songs, but most of all the camaraderie that is shared with this group of life long southern friends. The truly unique band Stop Light Observations plans on furthering their impact on the national music fan community and have some fun and change some lives for the good in the meantime.

About Elise Testone
A powerhouse vocalist whose incredible stage presence and vocal maturity rank with the best, Elise Testone is the perfect combination of soul, rock, attitude and restraint. Equally as impressive and at ease belting James Brown style vocals over a relentless funk groove as she is resting her voice gently over a ballad, Testone’s range of influences and vocal capacity know few limits. Her first original album,

In This Life, released last year received rave reviews, celebrating her ability to “wail the blues, rock like a bitch and purr sexily” (Goldmine Magazine). Growing up in New Jersey with a father who collected juke boxes, Testone knew she was a singer even as a young girl. Exposed to music that ranged from Motown and the Beatles to Queen and, later, Nirvana, she began studying privately at the age of 5, excelling and performing publicly at local coffeehouses through her teens. Eventually graduating from Coastal Carolina University with a Vocal Performance degree, Testone came of age as a professional performer and private educator in Charleston, SC, becoming one of the most seasoned and well respected musicians in town. At the age of 27 she was approached by a scout from television reality show American Idol and decided to use the opportunity (urged on especially by her students) as a stepping stone to propel her career, ultimately becoming a finalist on the hit show.

In the wake of her appearance on American Idol, Testone has toured extensively and has appeared on such popular TV programs as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Live with Kelly, Access Hollywood, Good Day New York, Good Morning America and others. While she enjoyed her time on Idol, Testone is excited to bring her own unique brand of music to the world, a brand that owes more to artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, James Brown and Sam Cooke than to today’s hit-makers. She has opened for B.B. King, Snoop Dogg, Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds, and Dumpstaphunk, to name a few. Her album, In This Life, featuring 10 original tunes, most of which were written or co-written by her, marks the beginning of what has been and will be an extraordinary journey for her as an artist and for her fans. In a world full of vocalists who seem to be acting, Elise Testone’s performance is anything but that. Her heart more exposed with every note, it’s not uncommon to find her on her knees and out of breath at the end of a hard-driving soul tune – all in service of the music.

LATE NIGHT AT THE ROYAL AMERICAN: BABY BABY, BRIAN ROBERT, LOGAN VENDERLIC & THE LONERS
Late Night at The Royal American is a separately ticketed music series for the rowdy and the brave. For more information and tickets, visit: http://theroyalamerican.com/schedule/

About Baby Baby
Channeling the Beastie Boy’s silly irreverence and Andrew W.K.'s party-rockin’ spirit, Baby Baby blend their homemade Fun Rock songwriting with a hip-hop swagger and an emphasis on the live experience. Imagine if National Lampoon directed the next Legally Blond and you'll start to get an idea of what BABY BABY is all about.

Baby Baby convened in the summer of 2009, when singer/guitarist Fontez Brooks and drummer Grant Wallace shook off the sleepiness of the suburbs of Carrollton and set out to bring a new element to the Atlanta scene. Packed with broody self loathing artists, haters galore, the crossed-over-arm generation and the strip-club rap scene, The ATL simply needed some fun rock. And that’s what Baby Baby — which now includes Ryan Burruss on Keys, Colin Boddy on percussion and Hsiang Wen on bass — delivers on their sophomore album, Big Boy Baller Club, the follow-up to 2011’s Money, out April 1 on the Gospel of Rhythm Recordings.

Baby Baby is a big, inclusive tent. There’s room under it for friends, foes, Nickleback fans, even haters; we all need someone to keep us in check, don’t we? All they ask is that you come ready to dance and make some new friends on the floor. They’ll take care of the rest.
